PHYS-232 - Classical Physics 24 credits A calculus-based, rigorous physics course for engineering and science transfer majors, also called “Electricity and Magnetism”. It is the second of a required two-semester sequence [PHYS-132 ] for engineering transfer students. Topics include electrostatics, electric and magnetic fields, their interaction with charged particles, and laws of induction. Voltage, current and circuit analysis will be discussed. Includes a three-hour laboratory and a one-hour recitation each week. Honors component with permission of instructor.
Prerequisite(s): PHYS-132 and MATH-255 (minimum grade of C-) and placement at college-level English.
Corequisite(s): PHYS-232L and MATH-355
Mass Transfer Block: Credits earned in this course are counted towards the MassTransfer Block Natural or Physical Science requirements.
