DMDS-100 - Sonographic Physics & Instrumentation I3 credits Presents theoretical and practical aspects of ultrasound physics and instrumentation, including characteristics and properties of sound energy and the manner in which ultrasound is used in imaging. The physical principles examined will include wave forms, propagation, velocity, wave length, acoustic impedance, reflection, refraction, other types of interaction with tissue, and imaging systems. Considered as a pivotal course in which the student learns to integrate knowledge of physics with instrumentation theory and applications. Understanding the production and actual creation of high quality diagnostic images will be stressed.
