Early Childhood Education Transfer - ECTR.AS

This transfer option is for students who intend to transfer to a baccalaureate degree program leading to teacher licensure for PreK to grade 2 in a public school. This program meets the requirements for the Massachusetts Transfer Pathway in Early Childhood Education and will enable students to participate in the Commonwealth Commitment Program. All accepted students must undergo a Criminal Offender Record Information check. The results could impact the student’s ability to continue in the ECE program.
Minimum Grade Requirement: Students must achieve a “C” as the minimum passing grade in all ‘ECE’ courses.
Upon the successful completion of requirements of this program, the degree of Associate in Science in Early Childhood Education will be awarded.

Program Goals
Successful completion of the STCC Early Childhood Education Program will enable students to:
- Demonstrate knowledge regarding all areas of Early Childhood development: cognitive, physical, and affective.
- Design and implement developmentally appropriate and culturally responsive curriculum, with the goal of meeting the needs of all learners.
- Establish and maintain a safe, healthy, and nurturing learning environment.
- Recognize and appreciate the role that family and community play in the lives of young children.
- Understand the importance of observation, documentation, and assessment and the part they play in the development of young children.
