The Real Estate Planning and Sustainable Development Option is designed to serve those Architecture and Building Technology students who intend to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Sustainable Community Development, Architectural Design, or a related field. Upon completion of their Bachelor’s degree students may choose to explore career options or elect to continue their academic studies in a variety of graduate programs which may include the Master of Architecture (MArch), Master of Design Studies (MDes) or the option of a fifth year Masters of Regional Planning (MRP)*.
In the first year of our Real Estate - Planning and Sustainable Development program students will build a solid foundation in the areas of Architectural Design, Construction Estimating, Computer Aided Design, and Fine Arts. In the second year of the program students will study in depth Community Planning, Building Codes, Sustainability and the Built Environment as well as the Principles of Real Estate and Real Estate Development.
As a MassTransfer degree program, students are able to fully transfer all of their credits and, when they complete the program with a 3.0 or higher GPA, attend the University of Massachusetts tuition free.
The Real Estate Planning and Sustainable Development Option curriculum is offered in both day and evening formats, allowing our working students the flexibility of taking classes when they best fit their own personal schedules. This is especially attractive to incumbent workers who enroll in the program to advance their careers while they continue their current employment. Our faculty all have years of professional experience and can relate the academic experience to real-world challenges.
*A fifth year Masters in Regional Planning is available through our unique 2+2+1 Agreement between STCC and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Upon successful completion of the requirements, the degree of Associate in Science in Architecture and Building Technology will be awarded.
