PHYS-130 - Physics 14 credits A non-calculus, introductory physics course, also called “mechanics”. Topics include kinematics, Newton’s Laws of Motion, work and energy, rotational motion, static equilibrium, conservation of linear and angular momentum. Newton’s Law of Universal Gravitation, oscillatory and wave motion will be discussed. Includes a three-hour laboratory. Honors component with permission of instructor. The calculus based physics course equivalent in topic coverage is PHYS-132 .
Prerequisite(s): MATH-132 with a minimum grade of C- and placement at ENG-101 .
Corequisite(s): PHYS-130L
Mass Transfer Block: Credits earned in this course are counted towards the MassTransfer Block Natural or Physical Science requirements.
