SOC-117 - Introduction to Ethnic Studies3 credits This course focuses on the meaning and significance of race, ethnicity, and culture in the United States. Students will be exposed to basic concepts in ethnic studies such as ethnicity, culture, race, socialization, cultural assimilation, acculturation, migration, immigration, social protest, and resistance. This course will be taught from an interdisciplinary perspective, thereby allowing students to build a base from various viewpoints and methodologies including but not limited to historical, cultural, political, economical, and sociological.
Prerequisite(s): SOC 101 .
Mass Transfer Block: Credits earned in this course are counted towards the MassTransfer Block Behavioral and Social Sciences requirements.
