PHY-101 - Technical Physics4 credits An overview of physics in one semester. Trigonometry and use of a scientific calculator are introduced as needed. Mechanics topics include vectors, statics, linear and circular motion, work and energy. Introduction to electric fields and circuits, waves, light, and atomic physics are also treated. Experimentation and problem solving are stressed based on an integrated lecture and laboratory. Intended to provide an overview of physics for students in technology programs.
Prerequisite(s): MAT-083 or MAT-087 (C- or better) or placement at college-level on math placement test.
Corequisite(s): PHY-101L
Mass Transfer Block: Credits earned in this course are counted towards the MassTransfer Block Natural or Physical Science requirements.
