Medical Office Administrative Assistant - MOAA.COC

This certificate of completion program prepares students for entry-level employment for front office careers in a medical office (physician, clinic, or hospital). The curriculum includes courses in medical keyboarding, medical word processing, communication skills, and medical office management.

Upon successful completion of the program students are prepared to take the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) examination.

All credits can be transferred into the Office Administrative Assistant Professional - OAAP.AS  degree program.

Upon the successful completion of requirements for this program, a Certificate of Completion in Medical Office Administrative Assistant will be awarded.

Program Goals


  1. Demonstrate keyboarding speed and accuracy with a minimum touch keyboarding rate of 40 words per minute on a three-minute timed writing with 95% accuracy.
  2. Master the skills necessary to produce professional looking medical documents utilizing software application (word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software).
  3. Meet the challenging role of the administrative medical professional by adapting to the technological changes in the global economy and the diverse workplace.
  4. Demonstrate a general overview of medical health insurance and reimbursement, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and human diseases.
  5. Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  6. Conduct research from a variety of sources.
  7. Demonstrate computer literacy.
