Customer service is a professional career that requires a strong foundation in many areas to support the needs of both the customer and the organization.  Although many customer service positions welcome entry-level candidates, there is a need for a more prepared candidate that can achieve at higher levels.  The Customer Service Essentials certificate prepares students to become employable, strong candidates for advanced customer service and sales support roles.

The courses within the Customer Service Essentials Certificate will provide a broad range of knowledge that will assist the customer service professional in many aspects of their future positions.  English courses focus on written and verbal communication-the cornerstone of the customer service professional.  Math and Computer Applications courses will help provide the tools needed to execute at high levels.  Psychology, Management, and Marketing courses will provide foundational information to understand the people, organizations, and functions that surround the customer service professional.  The Customer Service and Sales course, designed specifically for the certificate, will teach the craft of supporting customers and organizations, using customer-centric service techniques and trust-based selling techniques.

After completing the certificate, students can expect to be eligible for Client Services positions in the financial services industry, Customer Service and Sales Support in either production or service-related companies, Inside Sales Representative positions, Customer Service positions for large resort or entertainment destinations, and many other service-related positions.  Companies may require additional company-specific training and certification.  The Customer Service Essentials Certificate prepares the student to be eligible for these positions but does not guarantee employment.  Additionally, throughout the coursework, opportunities to visit local businesses, take part in career preparation activities, and network with hiring partners will be available to students.  Prepare for a career in customer service at STCC; where you bring your organization, your customer, and ultimately yourself to a higher level of success!
