Business - BUSN.AS

The General Business program allows students maximum flexibility in choosing Business Department electives in the areas of Accounting, Finance, Management and Marketing areas. The students receive a general overview and broad background in business subjects. This program may be preferred by those unable to decide on a major after completing the freshman core business program (described previously) or by those contemplating transfer to a four-year college who want the flexibility of choosing business electives for a particular institution. This program is offered in an online option.

Upon the successful completion of requirements for this program, the degree of Associate in Science in Business Administration will be awarded.

Program Goals

Business Administration (General Business) major will produce graduates who:

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of the practice of business, including management, marketing, accounting and finance, and the application of these topics in the business environment.
  2. Describe the environment in which businesses operate, including the major economic factors, legal requirements, ethical issues, and social forces.
  3. Summarize ideas and make decisions, based on proper research, analysis, and critical thinking.
  4. Exhibit effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
