MECH-331 - Statistical Quality Control

3 credits
This course concentrates on methods and techniques utilized in statistical process control (SPC) in controlling manufacturing processes. SPC is a primary prevention strategy used in process problem-solving and in monitoring of processes. Topics for discussion include descriptive and predictive statistics, data cycle, process variability model, histograms, statistical parameters, normalized statistic, common cause system, central limit theorem, variable and attribute control charts, control chart interpretation, process capability studies (Cp and Cpk indexes), and special charting techniques.
