HIT-124 - Intro to PCS2 credits This course is a comprehensive study of the Procedure Coding System that is part of the tenth revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10-PCS) that has been created for use in the United States. It is an inpatient procedure classification system that translates physician documentation of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures into a 7-character standardized code required to be used for billing purposes. The most important part of PCS is an understanding of each character selected to build a code and the guidelines associated with this classification system. The engaged student will be able to decipher medical terminology and will also need a strong understanding of human anatomy as we explore all the major body systems.
