HIT-110 - Health Office Basics

This course will introduce students to the daily environment of a healthcare office. The student will explore various settings in health care and the many types of medical providers they can expect to interact with. Health Insurance is the key to financial stability for a medical office so students will become very familiar with our complicated system. They will gain an understanding of the day-to-day operations including customer service, workflow and documentation. Managing supplies and inventory will be discussed as well as basic finance and health care accounting. The student will gain a general understanding of ethical issues and health care law. The importance of communication and interpersonal “soft” skills will be established.
