SPN-105 - Introductory Spanish for Human Services

3 credits
This course introduces students to basic Spanish vocabulary, grammar and conversation skills contextualized for the human services fields. Course content will include a survey of everyday language focusing on listening, speaking, reading and writing. After completing this course, students will be prepared to introduce themselves; talk about days of the week, months and years; and, ask and respond to questions about family, feelings, and other life activities. This course is for beginners who seek to be able to build rapport and successfully engage in basic conversation with Spanish speakers in their future work in the human services, behavioral health, or social work fields. This course is designed for students with minimal or no previous experience in Spanish.

Prerequisite(s): Placement at ENG-101 or its equivalent or permission of the instructor.

Mass Transfer Gen Ed Foundation: Credits earned in this course are counted towards the Mass Transfer Gen Ed Foundation’s Humanities and Fine Arts requirements.
