SMC-161 - Sterile Processing Technician6 credits This course provides the fundamentals of central service supply, processing, and distribution (CSD). Instruction and practice is given in aseptic technique. Patient centered practices and theories, customer service, and overall policies and practices of the central service supply departments. Students who successfully complete this course are eligible to take the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) and/or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CPSPD) certifying exam(s). Three lecture and 6 laboratory hours.
A School of Health and Patient Simulation course fee will be charged to students who enroll in this course (this fee is in addition to the per-credit tuition and fees).
