Social Sciences Transfer - SOSC.AA

The Social Sciences Transfer option is a 60-credit Associate in Arts curriculum that includes the Mass Transfer Gen Ed Foundation, and incorporates all coursework required by the MassTransfer A2B Pathways in History and Sociology.  This program prepares students to transfer to a 4-year college or University to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in History, Sociology or related field. 

Upon completion of the program, students will: 

  1. Understand the intersection of individuals and social, political, and economical forces.
  2. Comprehend the relationship between historical events and contemporary social phenomena.
  3. Recognize the ways that economics, history, and sociology are distinct, yet interconnected disciplines.
  4. Understand the research methods common to economics, history, and sociology.
  5. Critically evaluate primary and secondary sources for currency, relevance, accuracy, authority, and purpose.
  6. Develop quantitative literacy.
  7. Be eligible for transfer to a four-year institution.

Upon successful completion of requirements for this program, the degree of Associate in Arts in Liberal Arts/General Studies will be awarded.
