Automotive Technology - AUTM.ASFor those of you who have successfully completed the AUTO.COC Program in the Automotive Technology Department and would like to continue with us in order to earn an Associate in Science Degree in Automotive Technology, this is the program for you. You may join us for one more year that includes all of the academic courses necessary to earn your Associate Degree, as well as four more sophisticated automotive courses, i.e.: Manual Trans., Driveline and 4x4, Hybrid Technology/Alternative Fuel, Automatic Transmission, and Diesel Engine Technology - these are the automotive technologies that will raise your knowledge and experience level in support of your following a more profitable and advanced career path in the motor vehicle repair industry. All of our automotive classes are geared toward taking and successfully completing the ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Exams. Along with your enhanced automotive repair knowledge, you will leave STCC with an Associate’s Degree, which will support your future aspirations of career advancement above and beyond the automotive technician’s level, as well as position you to go on for your Bachelor’s degree should you so desire at some point down the road. All students are required to take our English, Reading and Mathematics placement examinations. Placement test results will be discussed with the administrative staff of the program during the application process to assure the appropriate registration for any remedial classes is accomplished. Upon the successful completion of requirements for this program, graduates will earn an Associate Degree in Automotive Technology. |

Applying to this ProgramApplicant must be a high school graduate or have a GED, and must have also graduated from the Automotive Technology Certificate (AUTO.COC) program. Applicant must hold a current state-issued driver’s license. The applicant must have high school math and English grades of “C” (73%) or better. If the student does not meet program prerequisites, he or she will be required to complete the following courses prior to starting the Automotive Technology (AUTM.AS) degree curriculum in semester 3: MAT-087 for math, DWT-099 for English and DRG-092 for reading. | |||||||||||||||||||
